It’s time to talk about your game’s first impression. Designing an attention-grabbing capsule will increase the likelihood of people clicking on your game. With top entries receiving the official "featured" flag, you want your artwork to stand out in those recommended modals!

Know the Sizes

Gamplo uses the following resolutions:

• Featured & Recommended Capsule: 16:9, 1920x1080 (used in Featured & Recommended, and your /game/ page)
• Thumbnail: 460x215 (displayed in Games page, more compact carousels like "FOR YOU")
• Screenshots: 16:9

Designing for Clicks

Your capsule needs to communicate what your game is about in a split second. Here are a few suggestions from what I've seen:

• A game about a dude with a sword should include a dude with a sword.
• A game about parkour should probably include speeding lines and a dude running.
• A game about cards should replace a vowel in the logo with a card.
• A game about puzzles should have a magnifying glass in the text art.
• A horror game should be dark.

🚫 No AI Art

Please do not use AI art. Generative AI is strictly against the Gamplo Terms of Service. Using it will result in your game being rejected.

If you are not an artist, don't worry! You can just add a background, styled text, and the protagonist on the right.

But I'm not an artist...

Fear not! Many titles you probably know about use the simple "character headshot + text + background" strategy.

Do not

• Make text extremely small
• Use colors that blend, making it hard to read
• Use an unrelated background, resulting in a capsule that doesn't convey the game content at all

Do

• Include your game title
• Include a character from your game
• Stylize your text - replace a vowel with a symbol (e.g. card, knife, mouth), make the second word smaller, tweak your font

Lastly, make it unique! You're the creative head here, experiment however you want - ask your friends what they think, and craft a clickable capsule!
